Reading, Talk, Q&A in Tewksbury

On Wednesday, September 28, I’ll be discussing the Patriots and reading from Game Changers: The Greatest Plays In New England Patriots History at the Tewksbury Public Library.

The event, which runs from 6:30 to 8 p.m., is free and open to the public. I’ll have books to sign and sell at the tail end of the evening.

You can get more information, and register to attend, here.

I’ll hope to see some of you there.

Signing In Dedham

I’ll be back at Borders in Dedham, Massachusetts on Saturday, June 25 from 3 to 5 p.m. signing books and talking Pats.

Summer events are rare for me, but the store is celebrating its first birthday and I had a great event there with Steve Nelson back in the fall, so they asked me to come in and sign again this weekend. (No Nellie this time, folks. Sorry.) I know they’ve got a whole bunch of other stuff going on between Friday and Sunday, but they haven’t filled me in on what it is, so I can’t share the info with you.

Store details and a link to directions are on the events page. And, you know, you could always call them and ask about what other authors will be in over the weekend.

Fundraiser Event for Weston Center for Women

I’ve had the great honor of being included in an upcoming multi-author event in support of the Weston Center for Women, a non-profit organization that assists women who are transitioning back into the community after incarceration or inpatient substance abuse treatment.

The event is taking place Saturday, April 30 from 1 to 4 p.m. on the grounds of Mont Marie, 28 Lower Westfield Road, Holyoke, Massaschusetts. There will be wines to sample and terrific hot and cold hors d’ouevres. And attendees will have the chance to meet some truly fine writers (and, you know, at least one guy who writes books about football). You’ll also be able to buy signed copies of all the authors’ books with proceeds from sales supporting the Weston Center. And, you know, even if you already have all of our books, keep in mind that Mothers Day, Fathers Day and graduation season all are coming up. Signed books make awesome gifts. Tickets are $30 in advance, $50 at the door.

Check out the list of participating writers:

Kevin O’Hara: Author of the memoir, Last of the Donkey Pilgrims, and the essay collection A Lucky Irish Lad.

Ruth Sanderson: Author and illustrator of children’s books.

Jean Stone: Prolific author of novels published both under her own name and the pen the name Abby Drake.

Suzanne Strempek Shea: Author of novels and nonfiction including Selling the Lite of Heaven and Sundays in America.

Marty Dobrow: Journalist and author whose latest book is Knocking on Heaven’s Door: Six Minor Leaguers in Search of the Baseball Dream.

Dori Ostermiller: Founder of the Florence studio Writers in Progress and author of the debut novel Outside the Ordinary World.

Ellen Meeropol: Ellen is celebrating the release of her acclaimed first novel, House Arrest.

Judith Kappenman: Author of a fictionalized version of her grandfather’s life story, To Dakota and Back: The Story of an Orphan Train Rider.

David Page: Baystate Medical Center surgeon and author of several writing books and the medical thriller The Phoenix Prescription.

Kevin Markey: Author of Slumpbuster, Wall Ball, and Wing Ding — the first, second, and third books in his Super Sluggers series of baseball adventures — and several books of nonfiction.

And, as noted, yours truly, author of all the books you can read about here, including Game Changers: The Greatest Plays in New England Patriots History.

I know I’m really excited about being part of this event. Maybe I’ll see you there.

Signing In Holyoke, Mass.

One last chance to pick up signed copies of Game Changers: The Greatest Plays in New England Patriots History for the Pats fans on your holiday gift list. I’ll be signing books at Barnes & Noble in Holyoke, Massachusetts on Saturday, December 18 from 1 to 3 p.m. Details here.

One note: This event was scheduled after we sold out of books at the same store the Sunday after Thanksgiving, so you might wanna show up on the early side.

Hope I’ll see you there.

Update: I’ll also be doing a bit of radio in advance of this signing. I’ll be joining Scott Coen and Russ Held on ESPN 1450 The  Hall in Springifield at about 9:30 a.m. to talk about the Pats and the book. If you can’t get the station’s signal, you can listen live on line at the site linked above.

Back On Noontime Sports

Spent some time talking Patriots, Jets and all sorts of NFL stuff (with a mention or two of Game Changers: The Greatest Plays in New England Patriots History thrown in for good measure) with my friend Matt Noonan today on Noontime Sports the Podcast. I always have a  great time talking sports with Matt. Ya gotta go listen.

Steve Nelson On WBZ Radio

As promised last night, Steve Nelson spent some time on the air with Mark Katic at WBZ, 1030 AM in Boston this morning talking about tonight’s big MNF matchup with the lesser New Jersey team. Nellie also talked about his spectacular playing career and about his involvement with Game Changers: The Greatest Plays in New England Patriots History.

You can listen to the whole thing right here.

Awesome Media Stuff

Steve Nelson and I both will be doing some radio tomorrow as Patriots Nation gears up for the Patriots to take on the Jets on Monday Night Football. I’ll hit you with some details on all of it in a second.

First, though, you’ve gotta check out the terrific notice Game Changers: The Greatest Plays in New England Patriots History got today in the Providence Journal. Books editor Doug Riggs calls me “the unofficial secretary of state for Patriots Nation” and says, “If there’s someone on your list who carries a Patriots Nation passport, buy him (or possibly her, but more likely him) this book and expect nothing useful from him (or her) for the rest of the day.”

Can’t ask for nicer press than that, can you?

And speaking of nothing better, here’s that radio info.

The great #57 — that’s Patriots Hall of Fame linebacker Steve Nelson — will be live on the air at WBZ, 1030 AM in Boston (and heard all over the northern and eastern United States) tomorrow at 7:20 a.m. (If you’re like me and you life in one of those weird spots where you somehow can’t get WBZ, just follow the link above to their web site and you can listen live on line.) WBZ also will post the interview with Nellie on their site and will air bites from the interview throughout the day. If you haven’t heard one of Steve’s interviews yet, take this opportunity. The guy had an amazing 14-year career with the Patriots and, like virtually all Pats alums, he’s got not great love for the New Jersey squad.

You can also hear me on the radio tomorrow. I’ll be taping a bit for Rock 101’s Scorch & The Afternoon Lumpa Nation at 2 p.m. It’ll air sometime between 2 and 7 p.m. Last time I was on the air with Scorch, I had an absolute blast. Can’t imagine anything less this time around. Maybe I’ll even get to remind the New Hampshire members of Patriots nation of my favorite truism: You can’t not beat the Jets. You can listen to that bit on line, too.

Springfield TV Station Comes To A Signing

More media exposure Sunday for Game Changers: The Greatest Plays in New England Patriots History. 22 News, the NBC affiliate in Springfield, Massachusetts came out to my signing at Barnes & Noble in Holyoke and filed this report. I’m delighted and grateful that WWLP chose to include a piece on me in their evening newscast Sunday.

Bleacher Report On Game Changers Patriots

Very nice notice for Game Changers: The Greatest Plays in New England Patriots History from Doug Baker of Bleacher Report. “I highly recommend this book to fellow fans of the New England Patriots,” Baker writes.  Check out the complete review.

Also, remember, those of you in Western Massachusetts, I’ll be signing books in Holyoke from 1 to 3 p.m. on the 28th. Go the the events page for details.

Springfield Radio Appearances For #57 and Me

Patriots Hall of Fame linebacker Steve Nelson and I both have some radio appearances coming up this week in the Springfield, Massachusetts media market, which is nice given that I’ve got a signing coming up November 28 at Barnes & Noble in Holyoke.

I’ll get the radio thing started Monday evening with an appearance on ESPN 1450’s Average Joe Show. I’ll join Buster, Tony and The Dude, for a couple of segments during the 6 p.m. hour to talk about the Pats and Game Changers: The Greatest Plays in New England Patriots History.

Then on Tuesday morning, at around 8:10 a.m., Nellie will check in with Brad & Bo on WHYN, AM 560. Steve is great on the radio. If you haven’t heard one of his interviews yet, don’t miss this opporunity.

And, as noted, please remember if you’re in Western Massachusetts that I’ll be signing in Holyoke from 1 to 3 p.m. on the 28th. Go the the events page for details. The Pats are off that day and it would be great to see you there. (If you can’t make it, maybe hint to your family about how a signed copy of Game Changers is just what you want in a holiday gift.)
